Birth and background • Often possesses supernatural abilities or qualities • Unusual circumstances surrounding birth or childhood • Sometimes royalty
Special talent or weapon • Hero has a special talent or • Hero has possession of a special weapon that only they can wield • The special talent or weapon sets them apart
Call to adventure • Hero is charged with a quest • Usually must leave family and go through a transformation or training • They may have a mentor to help guide them on their quest
Road of trials • Hero is tested, often to himself or his quest worthy • Often may have to prove himself many times • This may be where we learn about the hero’s flaw
Help along the way • Mythical beings, • Magical and helpful animals, • Human helpers, • Companions (sidekicks)
New location or new world • Travels take hero to a new world or • A supernatural world where most human beings are not allowed to enter
Greatest challlenge • Low point where the hero almost gives up • Hero may appear defeated
Learns ultimate lesson • Hero goes through a trial that leaves him emotionally or physically scarred • Hero learns a huge lesson from the trial • Often this is a triumph of good over evil
The Return or Homecoming • Hero returns home or regains his rightful throne
