  4. Every student needs access to appropriate technology.

  5. The World Has Changed • People use technology continually • Business has become less centralized, relying on teams of employees to manage projects • Projects can spread over multiple continents, utilizing technology to connect participants • Employees interact with team members from different cultures • Creative solutions are required for success

  9. Don’t most students have computers with internet at home? • No, times are tight. Parents must make difficult choices. • In a survey we found that only 48% of our students at summer school have computers with internet at home? • In a rural area like this, affordable broad-band service is not available. • We can bridge the gap by offering more technology at school

  10. Couldn’t we use other methods to teach the skills? • Yes, we are doing that now • It is not enough • The gap in basic skills and application is growing • Students who do not have access to technology lag behind peers • Remember our demonstration

  11. How do we pay for it? • Title funds are available • Technology funds are available • Ask the Board of Supervisors for more money It is a matter of priorities. Our students must be the priority.

  12. Now you know what is needed • Technology access for every child

  13. What can you do? • Rally behind our superintendent as he asks for more funds. • Join the letter writing campaign to ask for more funding for schools, especially technology • Talk to your neighbors, friends, and family members

  14. Our students need access to reach their full potential. Together we can reach that goal.
