  2. “Drawing Art” Objective: Demonstrate the use of value in showing intense realism and relationship with space. “Drawing Art” Requirements: Materials/References: favorite 2D media, hand(s) photograph, light source, camera, ruler, graphite pencils, 18”x 24” white paper, whatever medium the hand is holding, ex: pen, paint, etc. Sketches/Planning: 4 thumbnails showing various angles of artist and artwork, 1 value study from grayscale hand reference Final Project: ~ Realistic hand (with chiaroscuro, cast shadows, and NO outline), transitioning out of a contour line drawing or from the side of the picture plane. ~Create allusion of art being drawn on paper. Paper and drawing utensil has cast shadow and darker value background. ~Hand or pencil breaks plane of paper for added 3D effect. ~Life size drawing. ~Add detail/life to parts of the drawing, also demonstrating 3D effect.

  3. Realism Tip: By adding extra realistic things such as the illusion of pencil shavings, erasers, or eraser crumbs, additional supplies, torn edges or creases in paper, etc. you will heighten the realism of your overall piece of art. Just remember to include a cast shadow and consider overlapping/underlapping for anything that you want to pop!
