  1. Welcome to 6th Grade Math Rocks Ms. Austin

  3. On Time and Ready Students must be in the room and seated in their desk when the bell rings at 7:45. If students are not in the room and seated at this time, they are considered tardy.

  4. If your child is absent • If your child is absent, please send a written note stating why your child was absent. • This note should be sent to school the day your child returns to school. • The office determines whether or not the absence is excused.

  5. Lunch Reminder • Please send lunch money if your child will be eating in the cafeteria. • If applying for reduced priced lunch, be certain to submit application as soon as possible. Applications were mailed home. • When sending cash, please place it in an envelope with your child’s name, lunch number, and homeroom teacher written on it. • When sending a check, please make sure a phone number is written on the check along with your CHILD’S NAME AND LUNCH NUMBER.

  6. Homework • Homework will assigned daily in math. • If students do not have actual practice problems, the assigned work will be to study/review. • Students will receive a homework grade. • While homework will be posted on the website, the most current posting will be in the student’s agenda.

  7. The Agenda • Students record homework, tests, projects, and goals in their agendas. • Please help us help students utilize this wonderful organizational tool. • Check their agendas daily.

  8. Math Grade Sheets • Math folders are purple. In addition to work completed in class, the math grade sheet is located in a sheet protector at the front of the folder. • The math folder should come home daily as homework is to be kept in this folder. • Please sign by your child’s grade sheet as new grades are listed. • Students are responsible for writing their correct activity and grade on this grade sheet. • These folders will be checked weekly to ensure that you have seen their folders.

  9. S.O.A.R. New this year… • S.O.A.R. sheets are located in the Math Folder with the math grade sheet. • S.O.A.R. forms and sheets are updated on Mondays. The forms and sheets must be signed and returned by the following Friday. • S.O.A.R. sheets are only updated if the students has received a S.O.A.R. form. • S.O.A.R. sheets require signing only if your child has received a S.O.A.R. form. • Detention will be assigned on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. • Detention is from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  10. Accelerated ReaderStaying Informed All 6th grade students will STAR test on Tuesday, August 21st Renaissance Home Connect letters were sent home Friday (8/24). This is a great way to stay informed on your child’s progress in A.R. Once you sign up, you will be notified through email of each test your child takes on an A.R. book and what he/she scored. You will also be able to determine what percent of his/her A.R. goal has been met. A.R. progress sheets will not be sent home in 6th grade

  11. Supply List • 3 packs of 200 count wide rule notebook paper • 4 boxes of sharpened #2 yellow wood pencils (12 ct.) • 1 pack of 24ct. Crayola crayons • 1 pack of 8ct. full-length sharpened colored pencils • 2 Small Glue Stick Washable, White, Dries Clear • 1 pencil sharpener with receptacle • 12 plastic folders with 2 pockets and clasps (2 blue, 2 red, 2 yellow, 2 green, 2 purple, 2 orange) • 1 pair stainless steel pointed scissors pointed 7" • 1 package of 3 x 5 ruled index cards (100 ct.) • Sheet protectors top loading standard clear 25 ct. • Eraser caps latex free pink 12 ct. • Expo Low Odor Dry Erase Marker Chisel Tip Black

  13. School Website Please check any teacher’s website for the latest information of what is happening in that subject. These websites are updated weekly. Tests are announced and posted in the classroom and on the website. You may click on the web address below to reach this site: http://southside.tcm.schoolinsites.com/ Once there, click on faculty and staff and find the teacher’s name. For reading, click on my name to see assignments, announcements, presentations, or forms that can be downloaded.
