  2. Meet Mrs. Fetterman • Graduated from The University of Pittsburgh in 2004 – Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology • Graduated from The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education in 2005 with my Elementary Education Certification • Certified in 7th – 9th grade mathematics

  4. 6th grade Expectations • Homework Policy • Compliment Chain and “Caught You” tickets • Friday Folder • Please check every Friday • Keep papers at home • Sign and send with your child on Monday • Assignment Notebook • Please check daily as this is a great way to communicate

GO Math! • Sixth grade math is exciting!!  • Transitioning from Pennsylvania State Standards to National Core Standards. • Your child will still be taking the PSSA test this year with field questions from the National Core Standards. • Materials will be a mixture of GO Math and supplemental resources. • Math binder

  7. Story Town • Weekly stories from the anthology series – Weekly Robust vocabulary and Grammar lessons – Weekly focus skills (plot and setting, figurative language) – Tests on the Smart Response system – Spelling lists with logical patterns (short vowel sounds) – Novel units each quarter (Hatchet, Number the Stars, Maniac Magee, and Where the Red Fern Grows)

  9. Sixth Grade Camp • Camp will be May 21st – 23rd • Information will be coming home soon regarding the sixth grade camp presentation. It will be one date for all 3 elementary schools.

  10. Westmoreland Courthouse Reality Tour • The Reality Tour is an award-winning, evidence-based drug prevention program you and your child will not soon forget.  It is a 3-hour, intensive evening using dramatic scenes, instruction and testimonials to educate both parents and their children on the topic of drug abuse in Westmoreland County and beyond.   • Sign up forms can be found on the kidney table.
