  5. 4 Urban Bricks

  6. 4 Milestones

  7. Initial Situation Transport • (1) Road network at/over limits of capacity • (2) Additional traffic volume by new urban developement • (3) Only possible with minimised modal share of car traffic • +0,6 up to +1,0 Mio. sqm • gross floor area • +14.000 up to +25.000 persons • (inhabitants, employees) • +15.000 up to +70.000 car trips per day

  8. Measures • (1) Traditional transport planning: improvement of infrastructure of all modes • (2) Management of mobility of new developement: Limiting car traffic by • Limiting the number of parking lots in the whole developement and in single quarters • Limiting the number of car trips

  9. Mobility management:Objective for developement / all quarters • Detailedobjectivesforaccessibilityofquarters incl. bicycle, pedestrians, cars, p.t. • Collective garagesand max. numberofparking lots • Limits ofnumberoftripsbycar in thedevelopementand in all quarters • Calculation model fornumberoftripsbycarandparking lots, depending on sqm

  10. Mobility ContractOwner/developer– City of Graz • Limiting the number of car trips, number of parking lots • Definitions for „allowed“ amount and kind of „use“ (e.g. no shopping centers), limit of number of sqm • Definition of necessary measures and time schedule, responsibility and costs – infrastructure and mobility management • Signed by all contract partners

  11. Summary • „Wider“ approach on Mobility Management for car-reduced city developement • The only possibility of urban developement in overloaded road networks • Essential point: Mobility Contract and reliability against contract violation • Only the future will show the long-term effect and reliability of Mobility Contracts
