  1. How to Make your own Google Earth Tour Learn to embed pictures, movies, or slide shows in Google Earth Placemarks.

  2. Try this on your computer! • 1. Make a short Power Point or Smartboard presentation. Each slide should be centered and have large print. (Do not spend too much time on this, you can always perfect it later.) • 2. Save the presentation as JPEG images. • 3. Upload the images to a slide creation site. • 4. Copy the embed code for your slide show and paste it into Google Earth.

  3. After you have created your presentation In Power Point, choose “Save As” and from the dropdown menu, scroll to JPEG. Save all slides as JPEG files.

  4. Upload the JPEG files you have created to a free site to create a slide show. • There are many sites that will allow you to generate slideshows and save them online. • I have chosen PhotoPeach for this presentation. You will have to create an account to use it. If you have students do this, there are several things to consider. • DO NOT LET STUDENTS USE THEIR OWN NAME when creating accounts. A fake e-mail address works for this site, just don’t forget your username and password.

  5. Follow the directions to sign up and create a slideshow at- http://photopeach.com/ Upload the JPEG images you have just saved from your power point or SmartBoard presentation.

  6. After you have created your show,Copy the “Embed” code for your story.

  7. On your computer click “start”, click “all programs”, choose“accessories”, open“notepad”and paste the embed code there until you need it.

  8. OPEN GOOGLE EARTH • Create a Place Mark by navigating to a location and click the “push-pin” icon at the top of the tool bar. Open up the dialog box for “properties” by right clicking on the placemark. Paste the embed code you just copied from your slide-show creation site and click “OK”. • When you click on the push-pin icon on the map, your presentation will play.

  9. To make the sidebar disappear, click the “show/hide sidebar” icon (see diagram).

  10. For More Help Creating Placemarks • http://earth.google.com/support/bin/static.py?page=guide.cs&guide=22364&topic=22367&answer=148142 • This is a You Tube video that explains creating placemarks. • After you watch the video, try creating your own placemarks and tours.
