…itmeans… • Definition: postpone doing something: to postpone doing something, especially as a regular practice • procrastinatus: pro- (forward) and crastinus (of tomorrow). • First known appearance: Edward Hall's Chronicle, first published sometime before 1548.
The Student syndrome (term usedsince 1997). A 1992 study showed that "52% of surveyed students indicated having a moderate to high need for help concerning procrastination Me before Matura ;)
It is not[the same as] doing nothing • The procrastinator is actually doing anything he/she can not to do what he/she should do. • Coffee, cleaning, shopping – and „we’ll start right after” • Actual start takes place just before deadline, in a giant rush and stress
Why do we procrastinate? • Fear of failure • Fear of success • Fear of losingcontrol • Fear of isolation • Fear of intimacy
