Shomo • 26 years of teaching experience • Proud to be a VT Hokie! • Favorite place to visit – Bar Harbor, Maine • Favorite food – crabmeat, shrimp and french fries • Hobbies…VT Football, bicycling, reading, cooking, shopping, traveling • Favorite thing to teach…the importance of Agriculture! • Family…husband and two sons • This summer I participated in lots of educational conferences with other agricultural educators across the nation…in Ohio, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Warsaw and Blacksburg, VA!

  5. What is Agriculture? What is AgriScience? How does it all effect me? Will I be involved in agriculture? Sustainability… Recognizing the Importance of Agriculture/AgriScience.

  6. Learn why forestry is so important in Virginia. Learn to identify forest trees common to Augusta County! Exploring the Field of Foresty

  7. Importance of animals to agriculture Agricultural Literacy Meat Animal Industry Small Companion Animals Animal Rights vs. Animal Welfare Exploring Animal Science

  8. Apply safe practices Identify and use basic hand tools Learn how to measure Make a project – * bluebird house * butterfly house Introducing Basic Laboratory Skills
