  1. Some Interesting Facts About the Rosary You Might Want to Know

  2. The Holy Rosary is a sacred prayer in the Catholic Church. It is offered using a string of knots and beads used to count the component prayers. While, as devout Catholics, we pray regularly, there are still some fascinating facts you might not know about the Holy Rosary.

  3. ITS RICH HISTORY The first thing you need to know is that the Rosary is a Biblical prayer. Each prayer and each meditation has a source in the Bible. The Rosary used by Roman Catholics has 59 beads in total. Looking at its origin, the word Rosary is said to have Latin origins in the word rosarium. It refers to a rose garden. It is a fitting name as it is believed that every Hail Mary you recite is like giving Mama Mary a rose.

  4. Looking at its history, the Rosary is said to have appeared in the third century, although historians say it originated with St. Dominic. St. Dominic is believed to have received the Rosary from the Virgin Mary back in the 13th century. However, versions of the Rosary were seen as early as the third century. They were seen in the form of knotted prayer ropes, which had between 33 to 500 knots.

  5. IMPORTANT DATES IN ITS HISTORY May 13, 1981, and May 13, 1982, are auspicious days for the Rosary. On May 13, 1981, Saint Pope John Paul II was almost killed when he was shot. The following year, he knelt before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, with a Rosary in his hand, thanking her for saving his dear life. He also deposited the bullet found in his body to the crown of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The date also marks the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to three shepherd children:- Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco.

  6. There is a special month devoted to the Rosary every year. Looking at the Holy months, June is Sacred Heart of Jesus month, July is the Precious Blood of Jesus month, and October is Holy Rosary month. You and your family should especially buy rosaries from a Catholic Gift Shop Onlineand pray every single day in the holy month of October.

  7. ITS POPULARITY The Rosary is a favorite amongst Popes. Pope St. John Paul II had once said that it was his favorite prayer. On the other hand, Pope Leo XIII was known as the Rosary Pope.
