  2. Streamlining Training Packages • In December 2010 the NQC (now NSSC) agreed that all Industry Skills Councils will transition to the new Design Model for Streamlined Training Package • All Training Packages will be updated in line with the Design Model by June 2014

  3. Key characteristics of the Design Model • Simplify Present information in a simple and logical manner • Shorten Eliminate unnecessary information and consolidate repetitive material • Segment • Separate the performance standards from guidance and supporting information

No generic content, or content that does not serve a clear and defining unit specific purpose . Conveys the essence of the performance expected as the outcome. Plain language, avoiding ambiguity, unnecessarily technical language and obscure syntax. Present content in a logical, simple and consistent manner.   10. Assessment Requirements CONTENT ENDORSED GUIDELINES • 1. Performance evidence: • product and/or process evidence; frequency and/or volume of evidence. • 2. Knowledge evidence: • information an individual must possess to safely and effectively perform the work task described in the unit of competency. • 3. Assessment conditions: • physical conditions under which assessment can take place • equipment and materials required • integrated and holistic assessment • any mandatory conditions of assessment eg online, RPL, and distance or offshore assessment. Provide information to assist in interpreting and understanding the endorsed components of the training package • Overview information • Implementation information • Links

Training information • Designing training • Learning and training strategies • Training plans – including samples • Training delivery – on the job, off the job, blended delivery • Guidance on requirements of delivery in different contexts with diverse learners. • 3. Contextualisation • Guidance and examples on how to contextualise units and in the particular industry. • Links to relevant material.
