Objective: Do Now: List the social issues being addressed in the lyrics to the song Hard Times by James Taylor Scholars will be able to recognize and define social issue and social action, by making connections to real world events, as evidenced in a discussion.

Reading About Social Issues • You MUST read fictional and Non-Fiction text based on your social issue. • Your presentation MUST allow someone to take a stand against your real world social issue. (Must be moving and powerful) • You MUST choose your genre • You MUST relate your issue to PAST and PRESENT events.
