  2. ILEC Services • Local Dial Tone • Centrex • Rented from ILEC, for businesses with over 100 lines, performs call waiting, etc… • DID – Direct Inward Dialing • Handled by the PBX/Centrex system • DOD – Direct Outward Dialing (dial 9 first) • Pay phones • Not expanding

ILEC Services • TIE line rental • Private, high speed, used to link 2 PBX’s together, charged on a flat rate • Can be very expensive • Foreign Exchange • Allows a customer to call a local number • That call then gets routed to your location • WATS • Wide Area Telecommunication Service • Created in the 1970’s to allow customers some breaks when calling long distance • 800/888/877/866 • Allows customers to call you toll free • The business pays for the call at a reduced rate

  4. IEC Services • Inter-exchange carrier • Long distance carriers • Switched Long Distance (DDD) • Credit card dialing • Directory assistance • Other similar services such as: • WATS – volume discounted calling • 800/888 numbers • Remote call forwarding (similar to FX)
