  1. Poster Guidelines Examples Miss Bowen Mr. Clark’s 7th Grade Science Class

  2. Creating a Title for your Display • Re-wording of your testable question: • How does viscosity of magma affect how explosive a volcano is? Does Viscosity Affect Magma Explosiveness? • Declaration of your main results: • What effect does temperature have on the elasticity of a rubber band? Higher Temperature Increases Elasticity in Rubber Bands

  3. Answering Background Questions • Write your answer in a way that clearly relates to the question: • How can humans affect air quality? Humans can affect air quality negatively through contributions of contaminants by burning fossil fuels (like gasoline or coal) or positively by planting trees that help filter green house gasses like carbon dioxide from the air.

  5. ‘Because’ Statement: Should refer to scientific concepts discussed in your Scientific Background section. • What forces are acting on the car throughout your experiment? • If you roll a car down a ramp at 10°, 30°, and 60° angles, then the car will roll down the 60° angled ramp fastest because the car’s inertia is highest when rolling down this steepest ramp.

  6. Figures and Tables: Figure 1: Number of songbirds observed in each habitat type across all three days of the study. Edge habitat had the greatest number of birds on Days 1 and 2. Forest habitat had the most birds on Day 3. On average, edge habitat had the most songbirds overall.

  7. Acknowledgements: Narrative Example: • I’d like to thank my dad for helping me build the rocket used in my experiment and my mom for her help recording data. List Example: • Mr. Clark, Mr. Scott, Miss Bowen, Garrett’s mom, and Billy’s dad.
