Why was Smarterbuys set up? • Outstanding personal debt: £1.458 trillion June 2012 • 314 people are declared insolvent or bankrupt every day • 1,607 people made redundant every day March-May 2012 • 1.2m resort to payday loans annually • Some of the better known payday loancompanies charge interest rates of over 2,500% APR

  6. How does it work? • Currently one deal per month (each deal will be ‘live’ for the full month) – full product range from November 2012 • We negotiate significant discount, based upon volume • Choice of payment options – for the banked and unbanked
