History of China-Pakistan Relations • Since Establishing diplomatic ties in 1951, China and Pakistan have enjoyed a close and mutually beneficial relationship. • Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the peoples republic of china in 1950 and remained a steadfast ally during Beijing's period of international isolation in 1960’s and early 1970.

China has long provided Pakistan with strategic alliance formed in 1972, technical, and economic co-operation began in 1979.  • China had invested in various projects, Zong (1st 3G and 4G mobile network operator in Pakistan)is the first overseas setup and it relates to china. • Gwadar Port, the Coastal-Highway linking Karachi with Gwadar, Karakoram Highway, the Chashma nuclear power plants, and a number of hydro-power projects.

Two Thousand years of trade. • From East to West the goods included: • Silk • Tea • Dyes • Precious Stones • China (plates, bowls) • Porcelain  • Spices • Medicine • Perfumes • Rice • Paper • Gunpowder • From West to East these goods included:  • Horses • The grapevine and grapes • Dogs and other animals • Animal furs and skins • Honey • Fruits • Glassware • Blankets, rugs, carpets • Textiles • Gold and Silver • Camels • Slaves • Weapons and armor

China Pakistan Economic Corridor • CPEC is a flagship project of Chinese leadership’s initiative of One Belt One Road. • Length of corridor (Gwadar-Kashgar) 3000km, connecting Kashgar with Gwadar Deep Sea Port through highways, railways and pipelines. • What makes this corridor unique is the fact that it is the vital link between Eurasian land routes and maritime silk routes.

  8. China Pakistan Economic Corridor • CPEC will not only benefit China and Pakistan but will have positive impact on Iran, Afghanistan, India, Central Asian Republic, and the region.

CPEC Strategic Importance • Pakistan got a great strategic advantage to be the hub for international trade and integration of economies of Asia, Africa and Europe. • CPEC from all counts will prove a game changer, Independent path from Indian and USA’s interference CPEC Offers the shortest possible route for trade which shall minimize the duration from 26 days to 11 days

  10. Historical Background of Economic Gateway Gwadar • Gwadar Port is a warm-water deep-sea port it’s the world 3rd deepest port. • Gwadar Port is developed jointly by Pakistan and China. Gwadar is a planned free trade port, located at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.  • On 8 September 1958 the Gwadar enclave purchased from Oman for $3 million, and became part of Pakistan.

Pakistan can avail great opportunities from chine’s expert in various sectors like energy, Technology and Education sector Even if china uses CPEC for 50% of its Oil supplies then it will save $6 Million everyday, almost $2 billion every year.   13. Transportation China is using longest way due to which transportation cost and time increases, which gives a competitive edge to competitors e.g. Japan, USA. It will decrease the travel distance and cost greatly from china to gulf. Karakorum Highway Realignment Gwadar Airport
