Z39.50 connector in Sakai: Motivation • Created to facilitate the HEC Montréal and University of Montréal Sakai integration: • Integrate citations to course outlines (OpenSyllabus – Syllabus) • Access to our library resources • Give access to our library resources • Provide better access to our library resources • Manage link to library resources

Z39.50 Connector Integrated Library System Z39.50 Repository OSID Implementation Z39.50 communications protocol OSID CALL OSID RETURN Allows access to computer databases accessible trough the Z39.50 client server-protocol such as library catalogue. Allows a faster integration of the citation helper tool

  13. Improvements in Sakai Librarians are able to monitor books and articles referenced in the syllabus of the institution. Institutions libraries don’t need upgrade their metasearch engine. The process of integrating a citation in a syllabus is faster and more reliable.

  14. What’s next... Release our code to the Sakai community. Evaluate the integration of the Research Guide. Integration of “Your library proposes ...” Notify of Library acquisition. Monitor the access to and use of library resources.
