  25. Inter-Departmental Coordination • Power: The State has established five electricity distribution companies for efficient power supply. Especially for Agriculture, the power is supplied free of cost. This has been a boon for crop production. • There are about 16.45 lakh electrical irrigation pump sets irrigating a gross area of 14.75 lakh hectares accounting for 36% of the total irrigated area and it is major source of irrigation. • Regular joint meeting of electric supply companies with agriculture and allied departments are held for assured supply of power for crop production. • Irrigation:For the release of water from the reservoirs in every season there is a joint meeting of officers of Irrigation, Agriculture & Command Area Development authority chaired by the District –in charge- Minister. • In these meetings, the quantum of irrigation water available, the ideal crop and varieties to be recommended, arrangement for inputs like seeds, fertilisers, P.P. Chemicals and crop loans are discussed and date of release of water in the canals is decided.

  26. Inter-Departmental Coordination • Fertilizers: For every season the requirement of fertilizers is worked out on the basis of crop pattern and communicated to the GOI for timely allocation and release. The quantity allocated will be further dispatched to districts. Regular joint meetings of the manufacturers, distribution agencies and departmental officers are held. The district administration is geared up for the efficiency distribution of fertilisers. Karnataka State has evolved an unique method of BUFFER STOCKING of fertilisers through Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation by providing interest free loan from the Government. • Credit: The Credit requirement for both short & long term agricultural loans are worked out jointly by Lead Bank Officers along with officers of the Agriculture & Allied Departments. The disbursement details are reviewed both at District & State Level periodically. State Government has introduced a NOVEL SCHEME of providing Farm Loan at 1% interest (it was 3% during 2010-11) from co-operative institutions.
