  3. Plan a College Visit • Find out dates for college open houses/tours and schedule them • Come up with list of questions before you go • Know who and which offices to direct your questions to (ex. Application Essay • Brainstorm your strengths, traits that make you an ideal applicant for the program you are applying to, and reasons you are interested in that particular college • Create outline and first draft of essay • Attention-grabbing introduction, explain ideas in the body, and summarizing paragraph • Have someone proof-read it if possible • Your essay reveals something about you that your grades and test scores do not • Showcases your writing skills
