Google Cloud has been awarded government cloud computing services by MCIT Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has awarded Google Cloud a framework agreement for cloud computing services for the government sector to strengthen cooperation between the two parties and accelerate Qatar's digital transformation. With this agreement, MCIT and Google Cloud agree to collaborate on joint projects and initiatives to accelerate digital transformation in Qatar, by the Qatar National Vision 2030, and to make greater use of cloud computing capabilities. H E Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, and the two sides agreed to support MCIT's strategy to use technology in the service of innovation and creativity by offering computing, networking, storage, and flexibility services needed to develop and manage applications and big data. To advance this crucial industry for the benefit of the national economy and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by Qatar National Vision 2030, Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai said, "MCIT is proud to strengthen and develop its strategic alliances with leading global businesses that specialize in the digital sector." "Our partnership with Google Cloud will open new horizons for cooperation in the State of Qatar's technological ecosystem and will accelerate digital growth by relying on more sustainable cloud services," he added. "We are excited to work on this new agreement with MCIT because it will help contribute to the government of Qatar's digital transformation, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030," said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. "Google Cloud technologies, such as data and analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), infrastructure, application modernization, and highly tailored industry solutions, that the government of Qatar can leverage," he added.
