Historically, funds have not been allocated to DJS for reducing gang-related violence.
Established DJS Gang Investigation Unit.
2. DJS Gang Investigation Unit Investigate and examine all gang-related incidents within DJS facilities statewide.
Interview possible gang members in DJS facilities; focus on encouraging youth to leave gang and help find alternatives.
Develop an anti-gang environment; remove gang related names, symbols, or graffiti on books, papers, clothes, walls.
Provide gang awareness training to DJS staff.
Develop intervention and prevention programs for youth in DJS care.
