  1. PhD positions in the Fruit Tree Biotechnology Programme, UP This is with international collaborations doing cutting edge research on the avocado-Phytophthoracinnamomi interaction. The following projects are available: Project 1: Investigating pathogenicity-related/virulence genes in the oomycete, Phytophthora cinnamomi. Project 2: Host Induced Gene Silencing of Phytophthora cinnamomito study the function of key pathogenicity genes. • Minimum requirements: • MSc in any of the following: plant science, genetics, plant pathology or bio-informatics; • Ability to plan and conduct research • Highly self-motivated and work as part of a team; • The candidate should be fluent in English Contact: Please send your CV to Dr. Noëlani van den Berg Email: noelani.vdberg@fabi.up.ac.za

Hans Merensky Post-Doctoral FellowshipA postdoctoral research fellowship is available to join an exciting research team based at FABI, University of Pretoria This is group with international collaborations doing cutting edge research on the avocado-Phytophthoracinnamomi interaction The fellowship is aimed at a recent PhD graduate. This is a two-year position, renewal after one-year based on performance and progress. • Minimum requirements: • PhD in plant molecular biology, genetics or bio-informatics within the last 5 years; • Published at least 1 paper in a peer-reviewed journal; • Ability to think independently and troubleshoot problems; • Highly self-motivated and work as part of a team; • An interest in plant genetics, plant pathology, plant physiology and pathogen or plant transformation (Phytophthora spp.) Contact: Please send your CV to Dr. Noëlani van den Berg Email: noelani.vdberg@fabi.up.ac.za
