  6. Main Goals The main goals of this project is to provide connectivity among the Sudanese educational institutions, increase sharing of knowledge, help universities build their information infrastructure, and extend the value of digital libraries. 12/03/2014 6

  7. Objectives Connecting all the Sudanese Universities and higher educational institutions in a Wide Area Network. Building a virtual library for the shared contents of the universities. Providing advanced IT services such as video conferencing, E-mail, etc., Establishing digital libraries for each university. ( if not existing) 12/03/2014 7

  8. Project Phases The project will be implemented in five phases in five years. As follows: Phase I (Dec 2004 – Nov 2005) Phase II (Dec 2005 – Nov 2006) Phase III (Dec 2006 – Nov 2007) Phase IV (Dec 2007 – Nov 2008) Phase V (Dec 2008 – Nov 2009) 12/03/2014 8

  11. Phase I (ended in Nov 2005) 31 Universities are connected to SUIN. Frame relay is used as the main transport media for the entire network. Cisco routers and fast Ethernet are the technologies used. 12/03/2014 11
