The University of Iowa.) • The Iowa Assessments were administered to all 10th and 11th grade students in November. • The Iowa Assessments are used to evaluate student, whole grade, and school achievement. • Students who in the proficient and advanced ranges are considered proficient. • Students should use multiple measures to evaluate their performance/achievement on the Iowa Assessment Test: • National Percentile Rank (NPR)-proficient or not? • National Standard Score (NSS)-used to show growth between years • College Readiness Indicator-used to predict ACT score and college success

National Percentile Rank (NPR) • The current listed NPR is based on 2011 norms. • The National PercentileRankrefers to the percentage of scores in its frequency distribution that are the same or lower than it. Percentiles are used for determining the standing of an individual in a rank or population of the individual. • The NPR Score indicates how a student scores in comparison to students across the country during the Fall testing period on the same test.

College Readiness Indicator • The target for college readiness is that level of achievement where a student is ready to enroll and succeed in first-year post-secondary courses. • Based on the student’s Iowa Assessments scores, this section shows whether the student is on track in terms of being ready for college. • These college readiness benchmark scores are linked to the following ACT scores: • 21 in Reading • 18 in English • 22 in Math • 24 in Science
