  3. What is a project? A project has a specific start and end point and is set up to meet specific objectives, to create a specified result, product or service.

  8. What is project management? Focuses on controlling the introduction of the desired change. This involves: Understanding the needs of stakeholders. Planning what needs to be done, when, bywhom, and to what standards. Building and motivating the team. Coordinating the work of different people. Monitoring work being done. Managing any changes to the plan. Delivering successful results.

  12. Scoping the project A short, crisply phased piece of information covering : What is to be done Why it is to be done Value it provides if it is done

  13. Scoping the project State the problem/Opportunity Establish the Project Goal Define the Project Objectives (S.M.A.R.T) Identify the Success Criteria (bottom-line impact/outcomes) List Assumptions, Risks and Obstacles (Technological, environmental, interpersonal, cultural, political)

  14. Developing the plan Identify Project Tasks (WBS) Estimate Task Duration (similarity to other acts, historical data) Determine Resources Requirements (people, facilities, money, time) Construct/Analyze Project Network (dependencies) Prepare the Project Proposal
