  4. FRC 101 • Started in 1992 with 28 teams • 45,000 students (FRC) 275,000 (FIRST-wide) • 1,800 teams • 43 Regional Events • 1 National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia Superdome. Next year: St. Louis Missouri. • FIRST represents the world’s largest robotics competition.

FRC 101 • Designed for High School students with adult mentors guiding them • Some teams have different strategies – We choose to have the students do the majority of the work, (design, fabrication, programming, wiring, etc) and guide them to be more efficient • Per the rules, the only things needed to be done by a High School student is drive the Robot.

  6. Rules • Lots of Rules, very strict • Last year: 171 pages with 10 Sections, 20 Team Updates, and official Q&A Forums • Govern everything from what motors you can use on the Robot to when you ship/bag & tag to the Awards process • We are concerned primarily with 4 Sections: Section 6: The Arena, Section 7: The Game, Section 8: The Robot, and Section 10: The Kit Of Parts

  7. Schedule • Build-Season • January 9: Kickoff • Febuary 23: Ship • Weekdays: 3pm – 5pm • Saturdays: 9pm-2pm?
