  1. Time • Environment • Relationships • Opportunities • Education • Employment • Money

  2. “Money will make you more of what you already are.”

  3. Get out of Debt • Act your Wage • Write a Game Plan (Budget) • Learn to Save and Invest • Give like never before - Dave Ramsey (principles of Stewardship)

  4. Stewardship is about establishing a discipline. Spiritual Disciplines are the means by which we align ourselves with God’s desires.

  5. Effective stewardship requires the establishing of a discipline: money, environment, education, time, etc.

  6. The Bible informs us really clearly that a key area of stewardship is how we use our money. Mt 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

  7. God has given us a mechanism to develop this spiritual discipline: Tithing Lev 27:30 “ ‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. The tithe is 10% of one’s income/stuff

  8. Mal 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

  9. Tithing our money is a heart issue! Mt 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. It is an indicator of your spiritual temperature.

  10. Lk 21:1 As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Equal Sacrifice not equal contribution.

  11. Tithing is where the conversation begins... as everything belongs to God. God wants your trust, he doesn’t need your money.

  12. Tithing: What does it practically look like?

  13. Sally Living Arrangements: At home Uni: full time Employment: Casual job at Grill’d - Some weeks she gets 6 hours, some weeks 30 ($17/hr) Other Costs: Petrol, board/rent, going out, entertainment, saving for travel How much to tithe? Work out average hours per week. 10 weeks @ 30 hours (ave) = $5,100 42 weeks @ 8 hours (ave) = $5,712 Total is $10,812. Divide by 52 weeks and take 10% = $20.80/week An easier option maybe to calculate that week’s, fortnight’s or month’s wages and pay 10% from that.

  14. Nate Living Arrangements: At home Uni: none Employment: none Income: Youth Allowanace Other Costs: Going out, Entertainment How much to tithe? Calculate 10% of the Allowance ($230/fortnight) = $11.50/week If Nate gets a casual job, this will affect how much youth allowance he receives. He then will need to calculate his total weekly, fortnightly or monthly income and calculate 10% from this.

  15. Sam Living Arrangements: House Sharing Uni: Part Time Employment: Part Time as manager in local supermarket Income: 20 hours/week @ $27/hour Other Costs: Rent, Car repayment, Utilities Petrol, Going Out, Entertainment, Saving For Travel How much to tithe?
