  3. PRESENTERS: • Hiram Rodríguez Reyes – Program Coordinator – Undergraduate Student Intern at CCE. • Mr. Peter Nicolau – Executive Director for Senior Services at Buena Vida Adult Day Centers – talk about Adult Day Care Centers

  4. Young atheart: What is it? Is a program hosted by the CCE which offers UTEP students the opportunity to interact with and learn from the elderly in our community. Students visit community centers or recreational sites for the elderly and participate in various activities with the residents (games, arts & crafts, talking, trips, bowling, mall visits, zoo visits, concerts, reading, etc.)

  5. What is Service Learning? • Different from volunteering and community service: is an activity through which you will utilize classroom learning and apply to your activity, going beyond the experience knowing what are you doing and why.

Program requirements • You need to complete a minimum of 20 hours plus this training (check with professor). • Fill one Reflection Sheet EACH TIME you visit the site (don’t procrastinate!) • Be sure to have the Time Sheet (see packet) signed by the site supervisor. Turn this sheet in along with the Reflection sheets to the CCE (Benedict Hall Room 103).
