  3. At our very core we are relational beings. Without a solid, bonded relationship, the human soul will become mired in psychological and emotional problems. The soul cannot prosper without being connected to others.“ Dr. Henry Cloud

  4. Unhealthy Relationships • Hurtful • Confusing • Draining • Perhaps abusive

  5. Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

  6. There are basically two extremes of people: • the wise • the foolish

  7. Wisdom is the ability to make good use of knowledge, Discern right from wrong, and exercise sound judgment.

  8. 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young , but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

  9. Proverbs 4:5-8 Get wisdom, get under-standing… 6 Do not forsake wisdom , and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

  10. 7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom… 8 Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.

  11. Proverbs 2:6,7 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and under-standing. 7 He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless…

  13. A fool is one who chooses to lack judgment, sense, or understanding.

  14. A fool issomeone who: • Lives a life without proper boundaries

  15. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

  16. Proverbs 10:23 A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom.

  17. A fool issomeone who: • Ignores good advice and wise counsel from others

  18. Proverbs 18:2 A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

  19. Proverbs 15:5 A fool spurns his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

  20. A fool issomeone who: • Is an angry person

  21. Proverbs 14:16 A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.

  22. Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

  23. A fool issomeone who: • Repeats his own mistakes again and again

  24. Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.

  25. A fool needs two types of people :

  26. 1. Other fools A Fool attracts other Fools

  27. 2. Naïve people that he/she can fool

  29. Negative influences

  30. “If you hang with the hogs, you are bound to get dirty”

  31. Proverbs 22:24-25 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

  32. Proverbs 14:7 Leave the presence of a fool, or you will not discern words of knowledge.

  33. What happened to you may not have been your fault but it is your problem!

  34. Negative consequences

  35. “If you hang with the hogs, you’re going to eat a lot of mud”

  36. Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

  37. Proverbs 6:27-28 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?

  38. “No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow”.

  39. You know that you are in a healthy relationship when :

  40. 1. You feel safe

  41. 2. The relationship is mutual.

  42. 3. You are able to trust him/her.

  43. Proverbs 27:6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted…
