  28. Conclusions We will soon know the major players within the salmonid cytokine network. In some cytokine families there will be a large number of genes to be analysed functionally. Expression analysis will help identify the most important paralogues to study functionally. However, it is still going to be many years of further study before we really have a good understanding of their function within the salmonid immune system.
