  4. 1.5 Vicmap Features Background • History • Created from cultural data captured during production of the 1:25 000 Accelerated Topographic Mapping Program 1974 - 1992. • Data was migrated into a GIS environment 1996. • Subsequent data improvement programs were ad hoc and opportunistic. • Similar and duplicate datasets exist for the same purpose • eg. 000 CPN and ES Points (Single User Requirement) • 2007 Features of Interest consultancy recommended: • Improve / upgrade data quality and supply • Modify / upgrade the data model to adopt a “services” structure • Appoint a Vicmap Features custodial officer with sole responsibility for the product.

Vicmap Features – Interim Data Model • Addition of Feature Sub Types • Based heavily on the current ICSM and PSMA data models. • No “off the shelf” data model exists • The data model structure reflects fit for purpose requirements • It removes the reliance on variable attribute fields and reference tables • Ensures effective and efficient search and management functionality
