It’s too early to be sure of the precise impact of the change in laws. In its recent review, Government concluded that its introduction has not led to the widespread problems that some feared. Overall, crime and alcohol consumption are down. But alcohol-related violence has increased in the early hours of the morning and some communities have seen a rise in disorder. We can fully understand the intention behind the change in law of preventing people from spilling out onto the streets at the same time.     7. ShotPak sachets were removed from sale because of their similarity to soft drinks, appeal to children and their encouragement of rapid and excessive drinking. Sally Keeble, Northampton North’s MP, complained to the Portman Group about ShotPak drinks which are imported from the USA and sold in 50ml plastic pouches. The pre-mixed vodka drinks are produced in four flavours: ‘Apple Sour’; ‘Lemon Drop’; ‘Purple Hooter’ and ‘Kamikaze’. Endorsement The International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA) included the Code in its 50 Best Collection on Alcohol Harm Reduction Secretary of State for Licensing says it is “an important weapon in protecting children from harm.” KMPG review for the Government last year reported “the excellent work done by many organisations, especially producers and their Representatives, to demonstrate the principles of self-regulation.”
