Welcome to the Third Grade Classroom City! Let your imagination soar as students embark on a two-week project to experience the world of day-to-day economy, the election process, and running a city government. Through working together as a community, they will use higher-level thinking skills to solve real-life problems. Starting with the Election of City Officers and Opening Day ceremony, parents are invited to witness this exciting learning journey. Students will create their cities, design businesses, and engage in selling products or services for play money. Various city roles like postmaster, librarian, and police chief will be explored, fostering teamwork and creativity. The simulation will provide valuable social studies learning opportunities, combining fun and education. Parents are encouraged to participate in this "Family" project by assisting their child in creating a building for the business. Let's build a vibrant City Classroom together!

Creating Our Cities Use the handout to construct the building. The board should be attractive and have the name of the business on it. If the students holds a city office, that office should also be on the front of the building. Be creative!
Products or Services Selling real items for play money. Don’t go overboard spending money. Students have to have enough to sell each day.
