Is there Lead in My Water? • GIS Shortcomings / Geoprocessing logic: • Customer Information on Curb Stop / Meter layer • Material Type on service line • Spatial Joins to pass material information to curb stop, onto to Building Footprint centroid • Abandoned service – curb stop without associated meter

  11. Is there Lead in My Water? • MXD, with necessary layers, supplied to DoT to build AGO app

  12. Is there Lead in My Water? • Operational Data Layers in MXD: • 1) Lead Services • 2) Abandoned Lead Services • 3) City of Columbus Water Service Area • 4) Other Water Service Areas • Base Map Layers Requested: • 1) City base map service • 2) 2015 orthophoto

  14. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 1) Define Users 2) Estimate Anticipated Load 3) Determine Layers to Host Using ArcGIS Server vs AGO 4) Select Base Map(s) 5) Create AGO Map and Share 6) Create AGO Web Application and Share 7) Test! 8) Publish App

  15. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 1) Define Users - Public (metropolitan area residents) 2) Estimate Anticipated Load - Expected initial heavy load due to high profile subject matter and publicity from news agencies

  16. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 3) Determine Layers to Host Using ArcGIS Server vs AGO - AGO for all operational data layers ArcGIS Online Credit Consumption:

  17. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 4) Select Base Map(s) - AGO Base maps (Imagery as default) - Needed to add address and street labels - Added address points, street centerlines as AGO-hosted layers - Reduced file size by deleting extra fields and dissolving features before uploading to AGO

  18. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 5) Create AGO Map and Share - Set symbology to match DPU mxd - Set visibility range for layers - Configured pop-ups - Added Pop-up Media for Possible Publicly Owned Lead Service Line

  19. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 6) Create AGO Web Application and Share - Set theme to match branding standards - Primary widgets: - Splash - Instructions - Legend - Search - Basemap Gallery - Layer List

  20. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 7) Test! - Comment: Image on pop-up window is incorrect Issue: pop-up media image had been updated after first round of testing while image url remained the same Solution: cleared test user’s cache

  21. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 7) Test! - Comment: Have instructions appear by default with legend when app opens Issue 1: can only set one widget to be open when the app opens Solution: created a “grouped” widget by dragging and dropping one widget onto another

  22. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 7) Test! - Comment: Have instructions appear by default with legend when app opens Issue 2: new grouped Map Details widget does not always open automatically in IE Solution: added comment to bottom of disclaimer to open Map Details widget if legend and instructions do no appear

  23. Is there Lead in My Water? AGO Web Application Design Process: 8) Publish App

  24. Is there Lead in My Water? Live Demo: • http://columbus.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=a2afaed47dbd41059b1399fb60b51586 www.Tinyurl.com/zl5f24e
