History of the Dung Beetle • Dung beetles have been around 50 million years • Ancient Egyptians Called them scarabs and worshiped them as a god who rolled the sun across the sky • There are about 7 thousand species of dung beetles

Function in nature • They remove animal dung made by animals • Because there is less dung, there are less flies • They recycle dung • They help fertilize and nourish the earth
