  1. “Choose Humility”

  2. Oh, Lord, It’s Hard To Be Humble Oh Lord it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way. I can't wait to look in the mirror cause I get better looking each day.

  3. To know me is to love me I must be a heck of a man. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble but I'm doing the best that I can.

  4. “That demon, pride was born with us, and it will not die one moment before us.”

  5. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Proverbs 3:34

  6. James 4:1-3,6 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't get it…

  7. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures…

  8. 6 That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

  9. 1 Peter 5:2-5 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;

  10. not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

  11. 5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe your-selves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

  12. What is humility? Why does God resist the proud? How do we grow in humility?

  13. What is humility?

  14. Seeing yourself as you really are – nothing more and nothing less.

  15. Arrogance is seeing yourself as more than you are Inferiority is seeing yourself as less than you are

  16. Acts 7:51 You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

  17. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God… 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

  18. Humility is not a synonym for . . . A divinely sanctioned inferiority complex

  19. Humility is not a synonym for . . . A divinely sanctioned inferiority complex Selflessness

  20. Humility is Christ-like Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

  21. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appear-ance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!

  22. Why does God resist the proud?

  23. Biblical humility begins with a high view of God and a proper view of ourselves. The proud worship some-thing other than God.

  24. Psalm 10:4,13 In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God… 13 Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?

  25. “Most sins turn us away from God but pride is a direct attack upon God. It lifts our hearts above Him and against Him. Pride seeks to dethrone God and enthrone self.”

  26. A godly person fights pride. A worldly person feeds pride.

  27. Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

  28. How do I grow in humility?

  29. We see ourselves as God sees us

  30. Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

  31. 1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

  32. Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

  33. When I survey the wondrous cross On which the prince of glory died My richest gain I count but loss And pour contempt on all my pride

  34. These are my strengths. • These are my weaknesses.

  35. We see ourselves as others see us

  36. Ephesians 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

  37. Matthew 23:11-12 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

  38. Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

  39. 1 Cornthians 13:5“love is never proud...”

  40. These are my strengths. • These are my weaknesses.

  41. Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

  42. Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

  43. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

  44. Proverbs 18:12 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

  45. Proverbs 27:2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.

  46. “Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility.” ~Augustine

  47. “It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men sons.”

  48. Ephesians 2:1-9 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins… gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

  49. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions…
