  1. Web Designer Career Cluster: Information Technology Web Designer Haley Cresent 10/10/13 2ndHour Career/Technology Design

  2. Introduction “Man is still the most extraordinary computer of all” ~John F. Kennedy. Web designing inspires me. What got me interested in Computer, Technology and Web design field is that my father and Uncle work with Computers and design technology. I was taught all I know by them. I loved it and I kept going. It got to the point where I started designing rooms and products for virtual worlds. My Cousin’s Husband made his own virtual world and designed it with my Cousin. It also calms me down and teaches me more and more about Web Design. Do it! You learn so much from it!

  3. Nature of Work • Help plan and carry out an organization’s way of handling security. • Develop security standards and best practices for their organization. • Install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information. • Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff. • Help computer users when they need to install or learn about new security products and procedures.

  4. Working Conditions • My career is mental work because you need to think about what you want to do. You have to have the skill to know what you are doing. You have to be good at Science and Math. • My career is indoor work because I have to work with computers and technology. If I worked outdoor and it rains my computer and equipment could get damaged by water. • I would probably have to work 30+ hours a week for my job. It takes a lot of time and effort to accomplish something. It doesn’t take a day or too. It takes weeks or even months. It’s harder than you think it is.

  5. Training, Qualification, Advancement • I think the College Degree I need is the Bachelor’s Degree in the Computer-Related Field. • For my first year of college I think I’m going to go to Macomb Community College and work. But I think after the first year I want to go to Oakland. • The classes I will take now in High School are Design Studio 1 TC, Design Studio 2 TC, Intro Arch Design. In the future I might take some Computer-Related classes for my career.

  6. Job Outlook/Employment • The employment rate is 18% right now. • The employment rate is rising because people are going for Medical-Related Career’s and no one wants to do anything with Technology, even though we use it on a daily basis. • I would like to find Web Design jobs in New York City, New York. • I really don’t have a special place where I would like to work but if I had to pick I would say like Kuka where my dad works.

  7. Earnings • The median salary of this career is $75,660. • Life Style Goal #1: Get a 3 Story-House~ About$80,000 .(-) • Life Style Goal #2: Make good money~ About $76,000.(+) • Life Style Goal #3: Own a Jeep Wrangler~ About $22,395.(-)

  8. Graphic Design • My back up Occupation if I didn’t become a Web Designer is a Graphic Designer. • Make visual concepts by computer software or by hand, organize by selecting color, images, or logo designs to make an idea. • The degree required to be a Graphic Designer is the Bachelor's Degree . • The earnings for a Graphic Designer is $43,500 per year.

  9. Summary I really don’t care what someone says about Web Design, I still love and am interested in this field. This has been all I have thought about being since 4th grade. The one thing I am looking forward to the most is getting to be a Web Designer. It has inspired me a lot to get the grades I have now. There really isn’t one thing I don’t like about this career field. What’s there not to like?! My overall learning experience about Web Design is I thought you would have a different Degree instead of the Bachelor’s.
