  3. DWP GP STS • 3 year rotations • 6 month posts • 18 months in GP • Hospital posts at Dewsbury and Pinderfields

  4. LTFT • Either 50% or 60% • Apply via Deanery • OOPE • New Zealand/Management etc • Apply via Deanery • Sick leave • Need to make up time if off for more than 2 weeks

  5. Study Leave • 30 days per year • This includes HDR sessions • Apply via administrators • Need TPD Approval • 8 weeks notice please! • Budget £2250 over the 3 years • Cannot part pay for courses • 2 days prior to exams maximum

  6. Central Teaching Sessions • 80% attendance is the minimum • GP Posts • ST1 – Tuesday pm Drighlington • ST3 – Tuesday pm Normanton • Hospital Posts • All day alternate Thursdays at Drighlington

  7. MRCGP • WPBA • Continual assessment over the 3 years • AKT • MCQ/EMQ paper • CSA • 13 station OSCE type examination • Maximum 4 attempts at AKT/CSA

  8. Competences • Communication and consulting skills • Practicising holistically • Data gathering and interpretation • Making a diagnosis / making decisions • Clinical Management • Managing complexity

  9. Primary Care administration and IMT • Working with colleagues • Community orientation • Maintaining performance, learning and teaching • Maintaining an ethical approach to practice • Fitness to practice

  10. Case Based Discussions • 6 in ST1 and ST2 • 12 in ST3 • By the end of ST3 you need to have demonstrated you can do each of the 12 competence's. • Should be done by senior docs (ST4 or above)

  11. COT/Mini CEX • COT in GP • Mini CEX in Hospital • 6 in ST1/ST2 • 12 in ST3

  12. MSF • Multi Source Feedback • Primary Care • 5 clinicians and 5 non clinicians • Secondary Care • 5 clinicians • 2 Cycles in ST1 and 2 in ST3

  13. Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire • 40 patients • Only in primary care posts • Once in first GP post • Then in ST3 between month 31 and 34

  14. DOPS • Eight mandatory DOPS • application of a simple dressing • breast examination • cervical cytology • female genital examination • male genital examination • prostate examination • rectal examination • testing for blood glucose

  15. Clinical Supervisor Reports • Please make sure they are done!

  16. The e-portfolio • Need to register now • Either as an AiT or as a non member • Online tool to record all WPBA and learning

  17. Learning Log • Minimum 2-3 Good quality clinical encounters a week • SEA/Audit/Complaints/Compliments etc etc • And all of the teaching you get • Reflect on it • Will be read and validated by your Clinical/Educational Supervisor

  18. PDP • Please use it • SMART entries • Aim for 1+ a month • PUNs and DENs???

  19. Educational Supervision • GP Trainers assigned to you for whole scheme • Meet with them now, December and May • They produce a report which is either satisfactory or not every 6m • It is your job to provide evidence and arrange meetings • They may or may not nag!

  20. ARCP • Annual review to progress • Look at Educational Supervisors Reports and e-portfolio • Local panels in early June • All assessments need to be done by the time you meet your ES

  21. Out of Hours • 72 hours over 18 months in GP • 1 session a month • Record and reflect on them on the EP • Please liase with Jane Matthews at Dewsbury to sort sessions......
