  2. Let’s Review: Conjugations! • 1st conjugation verbs: -O, -ARE • 2nd conjugation verbs: -EO, -ĒRE • 3rd conjugation verbs: -O, -ERE • 3rd –io conjugation verbs: -IO, ERE • 4th conjugation verbs: -IO, -IRE

  3. Let’s Review: 3rd Conjugation! • 3rd conjugation verbs have –O, -ERE in their dictionary entry. • pono, ponere, posui, positus • mitto, mittere, misi, missus 3

  4. Let’s Review: Present Tense3rd Conjugation Verbs • 3rd conjugation verbs have a little “trick” to make their present tense. • pono, ponere, posui, positus • Instead of dropping just the –RE to find the stem, go ahead and drop the –ERE instead! ponere – -ere = pon-

  5. pono, ponere: put, place We’ve replaced the –e- before the –re with other vowels, -i and –u. PRESENT TENSE pon pon o imus is pon itis pon pon pon it unt

  6. pono, ponere: put, place Singular imperative: Drop the –re. Plural imperative: Drop the –re, change -e- to –i-, then add -te. pone! put! ponite! put!
