  1. King Tutankhamun King Tutankhamun was born a prince in Egypt’s royal court. He was born around the year 1341 BC. His father was the Pharaoh his name was Akhenaten. When Tutankhamun was born his name was Tutankhaten but his name changed to Tutankhamun when his father died.

  2. Tutankhamun’s Father Tutankhamun’s father made a lot of changes that many people didn’t like. When Tutankhamun became king he and his advisors tried to fix all the changes that his father had made. With Tutankhamun as the Pharaoh Egypt returned to their old gods and old temples were repaired. The capital city was moved back to Memphis. He even changed his name from Tutankhaten to Tutankhamun.

  3. Tutankhamun Became King When Tutankhamun was seven years old Akhenaten died. A few years later Tutankhamun married his sister which was common for Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt. Then became Pharaoh, because he was so young he had help ruling the country. The real rulers were a powerful general named Horemheb and Tutankhamun’s vizier Ay.

  4. Tutankhamun’s Family Akhenaten had several wives including a main wife who was the powerful Nefertiti. Nefertiti only had daughters but wanted a son so he would become king. Tutankhamun’s Mother was not Akhenaten’s main wives she was one of his less important wives.

  5. Tutankhamun Died Tutankhamun died around nineteen years old. Archeologists aren’t sure what killed him. Some people think that he was assassinated, but it’s likely that he died from a wound in his leg. Scientists have figured out that his leg was broken and badly infected before he died.

  6. Tutankhamun’s Tomb Tutankhamun is most famous today for his tomb in the valley of the kings. It is likely that his tomb was built for someone else but he had to use it because he died unexpectedly. This may have helped to keep it hidden from thieves for so long. As a result , when it was found by archeologist Howard Carter in 1922, it was filled with treasure and artifacts different from the ones in any other Pharaoh's tomb.
