  2. Safety Topic & House keeping • Circular letter ST-O-CL-005 “Pulverizer and Burner line Fire Operating procedures” – Highly recommend reading to learn about combustibles and coal/air explosive ratios. • Technique of “putting out coal fires on unit”.

  3. Safety Topic & House keeping (2) • Emergencies dial “Help” (4357) instead of 911 on “in house phones”. • In case of fire – alarm will sound, listen for instructions, and evacuate. • Weather and power outages – facility will instruct what to do. • Break will be from 2:15 to 2:45, will attempt to end promptly at 400pm, but will remain in room for questions after this if desired.

  4. 2012Topics Alstom/Duke - will discuss the actual data from upgrades at Miami Fort and Zimmer and their process for resolving pulverizer fires and the approach to the pulverizer program in general. Big Sandy / Loesche – will discuss the progress and challenges of installing a rotating classifier.

  5. Back to Basics – Test & Tune • Don’t expect to do this in one weekend. • Amos and Mitchell both have done this, and it takes longer than you think. • Make sure you compare to “old” data, you might be surprised.

  6. New Requests for Information • Averaging Pitot tube, works well, spread the word. John Weinsheimer will tell us about the tool. • SAS triple race throats, installed at Rockport , Welsh , and Flint Creek. Test data and effects on grinding zone erosion forthcoming. • Big Sandy will give an update on the Loesche rotating classifier installation scheduled for this fall.

  7. New Requests for Information (2) • News on table cracking? The B&W report confirms the failure mechanism to be fatigue. The bolt holes compound the problem, so weld throats on. Do good inspections and get them in your budgets. B&W will discuss inspection and repair procedures during their presentation. • What PDM methods are effective in determining MPS gearbox health? B&W will discuss during their presentation, effective means of monitoring gearbox conditions.

  8. Modeling Smart Burn will discuss modeling of the MPS mill and how they predict changes in boiler slagging, based on coal properties or blends.
