  4. Fire procedure • Alarm sound is continuous sound fire intermediate for over evacuations • Exit room and proceed to nearest muster point • Leave all bags • Tutor in charge will take register • All clear is a continuous klaxon sound • Return to room to finish lesson

  7. Course Details • City & guilds NVQ 7582 Performing Engineering Operations • Five units are to be completed to gain the full qualification • Creative Craft • 3268-104 introductory welding certificate • Employability and PSD • Functional Skills Maths and ICT

General rules in Canterbury College • Wear your student ID and lanyard at all times • Eat and drink only in designated places • You are not allowed to have illegal substances on college premises • Respect the ban on bringing alcohol to the college • Do not's? • Play unauthorised ball games • Ride skateboards, rollerblades or mini scooters on site • Bring animals to college • Misuse computer facilities • Play loud music

  9. Mobiles, MP3’S Etc • Classrooms, lecture theatres, workshops: • Do not use mobiles during lessons. As a courtesy to all other students and the lecture mobile equipment must be switched off before the lesson.

  11. Smoking Smoking is not permitted anywhere on campus except in the garden opposite waitrose

  12. Responsibilities • Attend regularly and punctually • Inform course tutor if absent • Complete the work required • Respect the peace, freedom, dignity and environment of fellow members of the college • Have regard for the property of students, staff and college

  13. College rules • Behave in a way that is not offensive to fellow students, visitors and staff and to follow reasonable instructions given by members of the staff, this includes swearing spitting and aggressive behaviour.

  14. First Aid • Any accident which occurs within the college grounds should be reported to the lecture in charge • There is always a first aider on duty who can be contacted via reception • If a student is off for more than 3 days, they must report it to the college’s health and safety advisor

  15. Student safety • Security personnel are here to ensure your environment is safe • Do not leave valuable items unattended or on view • Never leave cases and bags unattended

  16. If It Goes Wrong • HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN • Can expect the complaint to be dealt with in confidence and fairly • In the first instance talk to your course tutor or any member of staff • Talk to the student union

  20. Students union • The union is here to represent what matters to you, the student. • They represent you within the college. • Will help if you have a complaint about the college
