  4. WHAT IS THE INTERNET • It is network that is available globally that allows one network to connect to another network which connects to a wide scale of computers world-wide

  5. Who owns the internet • The internet is not owned by the government by an organization or by a single a person the internet is just a infrastructure that allows networks to connect to other networks

  6. How to connect to the internet • To connect to the internet you will need an isp(internet service provider) such as Du or Eitisalat to provide you with internet you will then need the following to connect to the internet: • Computer • Router • Ethernet cable • Ethernet port • Web browser such as Google chrome or internet explorer

  7. TCP • Transmission control protocol (tcp) aka internet protocol (ip) is used to connect to hosts on the internet

  8. WWW (WORLD WIDE WEB) • The world wide web is a part of the internet that you can gain access to using a web browser. • It contains a lot of webservers which host a variety of different websites such as websites for news websites for gaming etc

  9. WEB BROWSER • Is an application that you can download (usually comes pre-installed) that allows you to view webpages and search the internet

  10. INTERNET ADDRESS • Also known as url or ip of websites is used to identify a processing location on the internet which allows you to go to different webpages

DEFINE THE TERMS • Surfing the web: surfing the web basically mean browsing or searching the web • Finding information using web directories:It is a service that identify resources on a networks and gives access to those resources to the users and application. Resources include email addresses and peripheral devices. This service also makes topologys transparent so that users can access anthingwithought knowing it is connected. • Finding info using search engines:search engines such as google and yahoo are programs that allow you to search using specific keywords

DEFINE THE TERMS 2 • Searching the web using keywords: Using specific keywords such as and, or shortens the search limit and shorten the search • when you use the keyword ‘and’ it will only search for something and something • When you use the keyword ‘or’ it will only search for something or the other thing that you specified • Searching for info using a bot:A bot is a computer program created by humans that runs automatically when searching for info using a web bot it searches for info by tracked keywords typed on the internet
