  4. Legal Items • What is the purpose of the ELAC? • It is an advisory committee • It is needed if there are 21 or more EL’s at the school, and all EL parents need to be notified about the election so they have an opportunity to vote

  5. Legal Items • What is the purpose of the ELAC? (cont.) • Parents need to comprise the majority of the committee • ELAC must advise on the EL master plan sometime during the year

  6. Legal Items • What is the purpose of the ELAC? (cont.) • ELAC must help identify the school’s needs • ELAC must be aware of the R30 Language Census including it’s purpose and how it’s administered
