Practicing Note Cards… Title • Title: Short, descriptive, and unique phrase. • EXAMPLE: The Knight’s Values • The more notecards you have, the more specific the titles should be. • EXAMPLE: Knight’s Christianity • EXAMPLE: Knight’s Chivalry

Putting it all together… The knight represents an ideal member of the feudal estate. He is a devote Christian. For example, the knight is “Just home from service, he joined our ranks/ to do his pilgrimage and render thanks” (Chaucer 79-80). The knight’s service is a crusade or holy war. He is traveling to Canterbury to thank and honor God. While the knight is an example of a perfect pilgrim, his fellow traveler, the Wife of Bath, is not.
