  3. Applications Received (1) 1359 Applications received 75 % total increase as compared to 2001 Lower increase in candid. Countries (70%) 953 News / 406 Renewals 23% increase for news only 80 % renewal of last years projects 1073 Partn. / 286 coord. Almost 5 org / project (more than 5 in renewals) as opposed to 4 in 2001

  4. Applications Received (2) Highest increases in: MT, IS, IE, BE-fr,CY, IT, GR, SK, PL,ES, DE Lower increases in: SE, RO, BG, NL, DK, FI, NO In general: higher demand in Southern EU countries

  5. Applicant Organisations (1) Education Providers: represent almost 50% of all; adult education providers:more than 1/3 of applicant organisations. Associations count for 22.5% Mainly national and regional Public Authorities count for 11.3% Mainly local and regional 18% ofOTHERS(serv. comp., research inst., cultural org., etc.)

  6. Applicant Organisations (2) More than 92% of applicant organisations are located in urban (87%) or suburban (5.7%) areas Only 7.3% of organisations are in a rural location 83.7% of Grundtvig applicants are public organisations

  7. THEMES and ACTIVITIES (1) Stimulating adult learners demand andDeveloping new pedagogical approachesare mentioned by more than 70% of the applicants among their project objectives. Managemement of AE Org.andRecognition of competenciesare mentioned by 1/3 of the applicants The activities most frequently mentioned are Seminars / Conferences / worshops (77% of appl.) Publications and Web sites (49 and 47%) Exchanges of staff (45%) Less represented activities are exchanges of learners (27%) and Performances / Exhibitions (12%)

  8. THEMES and ACTIVITIES (2) The themes most frequently covered are Intercultural issues, ICT, Basic Skills and Active citizenship (all referred to by more than half the applicants). The less represented themes are Health, The media, Environment, Parental and consumer’s education (less than 20% of the projects) The target groups more often mentioned are Young people at risk, Women and Adults disadvantaged in general The target groups less frequently mentioned are:Senior citizens and Disabled
