  2. Argus Argus had 100 eye spread out all over his body. He was hired by Hera to guard her golden apple tree. When he was killed by Hermes, Hera put his eyes on her favorite bird, the peacock.

  3. The Circe Circe was a sorceress that lived on an island and used her potions to turn innocent people into hideous monsters, but they still had their human brains, so they always were aware of their horrible lives’ fate.

  4. The Chirmera The fire breathing Chimera had the head of a lion, the tail of a dragon, and the body of a goat. His hide was so strong and tough a spear couldn’t even give him a scratch.

  5. The Gorgons The Gorgons were horrible, ugly monsters that lived on the edge of the earth. They had serpents for hair and one look in the eyes would turn someone to stone. Medusa was a gorgon with her 3 sisters. One day Perseus beheaded her while she was looking at her reflection.

  6. The Geryon The Geryon had 2 legs as a man and 3 heads. He lived on the island of Erytheia. He was a giant with a 2 headed watch dog. Hercules killed them both and took the hydra, his oxen.

  7. The Hecatoncheires They all had 50 heads and 100 arms. Their dad was Uranus, god of the sky, and their mom being Gaia, goddess of the earth. They were brothers to the Titans and Cylopes. Them and the Cylopes were sent beneath the earth out of discrimination for looks, but then released by Zeus and helped overthrow the Titans.

  8. Medusa Medusa used to be a beautiful woman, but then was turned into an ugly dragon and snake-like monster with snakes for hair. Her face was so ugly anyone who looked at her would turn to stone.

  9. The Minotaur The Minotaur had the body of a man and the head of a bull. A maze was built for him so complex he could never get out. For food, he was fed 7 children human victims per year.

  10. The Sirens The Sirens, three sea goddesses, each with a head of a woman and the body of a bird, the daughters of Phorcys, God of the Sea. They would lure the sailors with the beautiful songs of the dead so that the sailors could not contain themselves. Once the sailors arrived at the island, the three sirens would show themselves as monsters and eat them.

  11. The Sphinx • The Sphinx had the body of a lion, wings of a bird and head of a woman. It sat at the entrance of to the city of thieves and asked a riddle of each of those who wanted to pass on or enter. It would kill whoever gave the wrong answer. • Ex. • “What is it that has four feet in the morning, two at noon, and three at night?” • Answer: “Man” • Explanation: “Crawls on four legs as a baby, stands upright as an adult, and walks with a stick as an old man.”
