  1. SPACE LITERACY PROJECT

  2. Our universe • How old is our universe? Our universe is 15 billion years old • How did the universe begin? It began with the big bang • What is the tempreture of our universe? The universe is 2.73 or colder • What are light minutes or light hours? The distance light travels in one minute or hour

  3. Early astronomers • what is a radio telescope? A device used in radio astromomy for detecting and recording radio waves coming from stars • How did early astronomers study space before the invention of the telescope? • Info about astronomers=Galileo...............lived in Italy and Pisa from 1564-1642 and he discovered the telescope. Edmund Halley...............lived in Haggerston, Shoreditch from 1656-1742 and he discovered the Halley comet. What was the first telescope invented? It was invented by hansleppershey and he called it the looker.

  4. stars what is a star? A star is a big ball of hot, glowing gas. The gas is mostly hydrogen and helium. Stars give off heat, light, and other kinds of energy. How does a new star begin?Stars are born from swirling clouds of gas and dust. Gravity pulls the gas and dust together. The gas and dust form a spinning ball. As it spins, it gets hotter. The gas and dust get tightly packed. Finally, nuclear fusion begins and the star starts to shine. What is a constellation? A group of stars that form a shape. How long would it take to get to the nearest star? If you were going the speed of light it would take you 8 mins To get there. Why do stars twinkle? The turbulence in the atmosphere causes the starlight to bend slightly making the stars twinkle. What is the milky way? The milky way galaxy is just clouds of gas and dust that swirls in space between the stars. What is the milky way? The milky way is home to our solar system and possibly others. The sun and all the nearby stars are all part off the milky way What is a shooting star? A shooting star is no star at all its auctually a meteor.

  5. Find the meaning of: Binary stars: a binary star is a star orbiting its own mass. Globular clusterA globular cluster is a collection of stars that orbit a galactic core. White dwarf A white dwarf is a small star composed of mostly of electron-degenerate matter. Neutron star: a type of star that can be made from the gravitational collapse of a massive star Red giant:when the star’s core runs out The star grows bigger than it was before. Now the star is called a red giant. Nebula: A nebula is an cloud of dust, hydrogen gas, helium gas and plasma. Supernova:Really big stars become supergiants. Supergiants become supernovas, which are big exploding stars Black holes: Black holes are some of the strangest things in space. A black hole sucks in anything that gets near it. . .
