### 15-4: I can construct line plots using given data and use it to answer questions about the data set!

You know how to show fractions on a number line. Today you will use a number line to show a set of data in a line plot
• Draw a number line in eighths from 15 to 19.
• That means that on the eighth hash mark it is a new whole number.
• How can you show where 18 ½ is on a number line?
Ball throwing distance in yards with each arm
• Most people can throw a ball farther with one arm than the other. Make separate line plots for the data given (right arm/left arm) and use the line plots to answer these questions. Use the same scale for each line plot. Remember a line plot uses the X’s!

Using your data, Were most students better at throwing the ball with their left arm or right arm? Tell how you used the line plots to solve.

• What was the most common throwing distance for each arm?
• What is the difference in yards between the longest throw and the shortest throw for each arm?
Classwork
• Please work on pages 408-409 #1-12
• Then, check work.
• Finished? Work on any enrichment project of your choice! 
