UNESCO Culture Main lines of Actions • Protecting and conserving cultural and natural heritage through the effective implementation of the 1972 Convention • Enhancing the protection of cultural property and fighting against traffic in cultural property through the effective implementation of the 1954, 1970 and 2001 Conventions • Safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage through the effective implementation of the 2003 Convention.

UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) Mandate • Improvement of the UNESCO Cross-National Statistical Databases • Development of New Methodologies, Standards and Indicators • National Statistical Capacity Building • Promotion and the Use and Interpretation of Evidence-Based Statistics for Monitoring and To Inform Policy

UIS Culture Statistics Programme Objectives • Develop appropriate methodologies and standards that will provide guidance to countries to support the development of cultural statistics. • Undertake the collection and dissemination of globally relevant selected cultural data via global surveys • Develop and maintain a cross-national database for selected cultural domains • Produce analysis that is timely and policy relevant • Provide technical assistance in the area of cultural statistics • Support the work of UNESCO CLT sector in the use and promotion of statistical measurement
